Commodore Norrington, my effects please. And my hat...
    [IMG][IMG] [IMG]
This wonderful one-third scale tricorn hat was given to me by George as a very generous thank you gift for travelling over to San Diego to meet with him and cover the Comic Con last month.
He said "hey Stephen, I've got something for you..," and produced a small white box wrapped in Cinemaquette tape. He peeled back the tape and lifted the lid, and sitting inside wrapped in bubble-wrap was Jack's hat.
I guess you guys can imagine my reaction.
    :waah:   :pirate:
Like Indy's Fedora, this hat is solid (I think it is made of resin). It is painted in a very convincing mottled leather effect, and is signed inside by George as an artist proof number 3 of 3.
It's a snug fit to Jack's head, though some adjustment of the beads and so forth was required to have it sit comfortably.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. Feel free to fire away with any questions ye might have - I'm ready for 'em!

You have been quietly holding this to yourself for weeks? :box:
It looks like a tight fit but it sure is one cool surprise gift. Very cool!
Raf's Indy hat is a thing of beauty. I think a challenge has been issued to Raf to outdo this... :pirate:

Yup. I even forgot to show it to Raf when he visited because I had it locked in the hotel safe.

I understand that consideration is being given to making a limited number of hats, and possibly coats available, but I neither know exactly when nor how.
I sure would love a coat too I must say.

I hope so! I would love to get Jack's Coat and Hat for my CM. These were the accessories I wished were included as standard with the Jack CM. Let's hope we do not have to shell out another $3k for the AP 'special edition' for Jack.
Very nice of George btw, you must be over the moon Steve :top:

Steve, in regards to the pic and sig with Shatner, you wrote:
It’s pictures like these that so sharply define what it is to be a collector ..."
This is an exacting moment for you. I am happy for you that George has acknowledged you dedication, loyalty, and perseverance with CM. He sees you as a true collector in the best light.
My "hat" off to you my collector friend.

Thanks for sharing and a very nice gesture from George to one of his most loyal collectors.
I think it's an interesting variant to look at but would have to see it in the flesh to decide if it's preferable in the long run. :hmm:
Raf raises an interesting question about the ES on this and possible release as an AP.
Whatever it is, I can say that if Extras were offered as accessories I'd have to consider them but I fear an AP release would be a better fit for George's concept. And one I'd have to pass on.

I guess much will depend Tim on how easy it is to fit any accessories, should they emerge. The hat is a piece of cake, but not so sure about jackets and such like. I just really don't know what the plan is yet, but we’re sure to find out about it first here.

As far as the APs go Raf this is it – the other two APs are accounted for.
This idea of producing accessories is a new one to me, and like I said above I don't know for sure whether these will be made available as an exclusive here, possibly alongside a jacket too.
I'm getting the vibe here generally that people would prefer such a thing be released as a separate offer rather than to accompnay an AP piece. I understand that and would probably say I have to agree.
If it were rolled up into another AP exclusive like the Alien I'd have to think long and hard because I really do like my existing Jack Sparrow and would be reluctant to part with him.

i would prefer the hat being offered ONLY, not a whole AP of the whole piece, but correct me i may have misunderstood, when you mentioned AP hat, i assumed it is the HAT that would be considered an artist proof, and not the whole figure, as you only got the hat, which is 3 of 3, so i assumed it was the AP hat, the hat would be a nice touch but again only if he can offer the hat only,

Yes Raf I guess if the hat were to be made available it wouldn't be an AP, and if the hat were to be made available with an AP Jack, the statue would be an AP, but the hat not... unless the whole thing was coupled up as an AP.
I suppose there are lots of ways of doing it, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I don't own the piece, but if I did, I would have to say I wouldn't mind purchasing "accessories" for it from CM.

This is very cool indeed. What a nice gesture by George. I have to say that the Sparrow piece is one i'm looking to pick up in the near future. And unlike the Alien which I already own, I would be interested in picking up an AP of Sparrow if it was offered with a hat and possibly coat.
Congrats Stephen on yet another truly unique piece.

The thing is that Jack's likeness seems to vary so much. Some of us have become attached to the one we have. Not only that but Raf has shown that some texture on a hat goes a long way so a casted CM AP hat is cool but something with texture would be better. I rather have a spare pistol or some scaled coins for the base.
I would prefer these accessories sold individually to members here as limited runs. I would rather them redo Aragorn or Arnold with battle damage as complete sculpts.
